The threads move magically through the machine with a quick step on the foot control - a hands-free operation. The L890 Quilters Edition automatically sets loopers in the right position for threading without needing to turn the handwheel searchiing for the right positioning. Step on the gas, and poof!

Select your stitch, stitch settings and properties or access the memory via the intuitive touch screen. They are all available there and you can make changes while sewing. Apply all settings directly in Expert Mode if you are an advanced user, while Guided Mode walks you through settings step-by-step and includes mini videos for even more clarification. Both modes set thread tension, stitch length and differential feed automatically based on stitch selection.

With the L890 Quilters Edition you can adjust all the settings for each stitch and save up to 100 variations in Personal Memory. The stitch length, differential feed, thread tension, cutting width and other stitch parameters can be adjusted while you sew. Turn the MTC knob (Micro Thread Control) to adjust the amount of overedge thread.

Press the foot control with your heel to take a half stitch, lowering or raising the needle. The BERNINA Free Hand System (FHS) allows you to raise and lower the presser foot with you knee, leaving both of your hands free to guide the fabric.

The L890 is generously proportioned with more room to the right of the needle and more work space height than any other BERNINA overlocker/serger. Sew closed items such as cuffs or sleeves quite easily by sliding them over the freearm, easily accessed when the tray is removed.

From the stretchiest knits to the most loosely woven fabrics the L 890 QE has the perfect stitch for particularly highly elastic and knitted materials, and threads. Combine both overlock, cover- and chainstitches for extra durable seams using 4- or 5-thread combo stitches.
