Catherine Redford - Walking Foot Quilting- Beyond the Ditch

A comprehensive class in walking foot quilting.  We will begin with a discussion of the factors that lead to success, including pressing and basting.  Then, we will make stitches samples of different styles including matchstick quilting grids, combined stitches, and serpentines.  Find out how Catherine add hand stitching to her quilts.  Elevate your technique with beautiful organic curves.  Learn to execute sharp turns and make accurate straight line polygon spirals.  Finish with a look at Catherine's work to inspire you to go home and turn your tops into quilts.

Instructor: Catherine Redford
Instructor Bio: British by birth but after 30 years in the USA now a proud citizen, Catherine and her husband Steve make Naperville, Illinois their home. Their four children are all married and live far enough away that she can’t turn up on the doorstep to check in on the nine grandchildren without warning. Catherine’s love of cutting up paper as a five-year-old has developed into a life-long creative practice that has been centered around fabric since her teens. Her natural curiosity about the world around her makes her vocation as a traveling quilt teacher all the sweeter. She still has a long list of destinations left to explore!
