My First Quilt”

March 23, 2020 @ 6 – 9 PM

April 20, 2020 @ 6 – 9 PM

Supply List:

“School of Sewing” by Shea Henderson – book is out of print and not available through our regular supplier but is available on Amazon, you can order the book yourself or ask Kami to order it for you.

We will be working from Chapter 12 of the book for this project.

Your fabric requirements will depend upon the size of quilt that you would like to make – mine is 40 x 40, was made from scraps and is intended as a donation for NICU.

Baby size quilt (40 x 48”) you will need 1.25 yards of two colors or scraps to equal that.*

Crib size batting

3 yard of backing

Thread to piece and thread to quilt

1/3 yard binding fabric

Lap size quilt (60 x 72”) you will need 2.5 yard of two colors or scraps to equal that.*

Twin size batting

4 yard of backing

Thread to piece and thread to quilt

½ yard binding fabric

*Use only quilting cottons, small-scale prints, solids and near solids work best. The more fabrics used, the greater the depth and variety in your quilt.

You, of course will need your normal sewing supplies – scissors, seam ripper, pins, etc.

Sewing machine – cleaned and oiled – you may even want to bring your brush & oil as cotton does make a lot of fuzz!

Clear acrylic ruler

fabric marker

painter's tape

size 2 curved safety pins for basting

1/4” presser foot

walking foot

table for your machine
