Lyric - Invisible Machine English Paper Piecing

Lyric is made with just one shape - the 1 inch hexagon.  You can sew the hexagons together with either 60 weight cotton thread or invisible polyester monofilament. We will be making the quilt over a 4 month period.

Supply List



  • 10 to 12 Fat Quarters of solids or designs that read like a solid

  • 60 weight cotton Mettler thread to match each fabric. Yes, that's 10 to 12 spools of thread. If you don't want to use cotton thread, you may use the Madeira polyester mono-filament for the top thread and a neutral 60 weight cotton thread for the bobbin.

  • a bobbin for each spool of thread

  • 15 Fat Quarters (or the equivalent) of background fabric. They don't all need to be different.

  • 1 ½ yds background fabric for center medallion and border.

  • 500 1” hexagon papers

  • acrylic template for a 1” hexagon

  • Sewline Glue pen and refills

  • Washable glue stick

  • True Grips

  • Elmer's washable glue (buy the purple if you can find it)

  • 28mm or 45mm rotary cutter and small cutting mat

  • 12” Golden Threads quilting paper

  • Size 70 universal needle

  • #20 Open toe foot
